What is Gynecomastia Surgery?
Reduces breast excess in men (both breast and nipple) resulting in a more masculine-looking chest.
Procedure
Gynecomastia surgery reduces excessively developed breasts in men through liposuction and/or the removal of excess glandular tissue.
Duration
About an hour and a half to three hours.
Anesthesia
General anesthesia can be used, or intravenous sedation combined with local anesthesia.
Hospitalization
It is usually an outpatient procedure.
Side Effects
Temporary bruising, swelling, numbness, pain, or burning sensations.
Risks
Infection, fluid retention, skin damage, rippling or sagging of the skin, asymmetry, pigmentation changes, scarring if excessive tissue has been cut, loss of nipple sensation, contour irregularities; in some cases a second intervention is required to remove additional tissue.
Recovery
The patient will be able to return to normal activities after seven days; those that require more significant effort can be resumed after two or three weeks. The swollen feeling and bruising will go away after three to six months.
Results
Permanent, although weight gain may cause the area to increase in size again. The results may vary according to each person.
