What is Botox?
Botox (Botulinum Toxin) is a cosmetic injectable designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines that form on the face as a natural result of aging. It contains a substance known as botulinum toxin type A.
There are several brands of botulinum toxin available. The best areas for botulinum toxin treatment are in the upper third of the face for the correction of vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, horizontal furrows on the forehead, and crow’s feet.
Generally, a light sub-treatment is preferred. Excessive treatment can cause a decrease in facial expression.
Procedure
Botulinum toxin type A is a product used in cosmetic surgery to correct annoying expression lines on the face. The correction occurs because the botulinum toxin temporarily paralyzes the muscles responsible for these lines. This allows the skin to recover from years of squinting and frowning.

Side Effects
Immediately after treatment, only small punctures are visible. Mild bruising. Some patients experience mild headaches during the first week.
Risks
There are no permanent risks in healthy individuals. It can cause asymmetry in the results; eyelid drooping can occur in 1-5%; it always recovers spontaneously in 3-4 weeks.
Recovery
The effect only appears after 3-4 days and lasts for 4-6 months. When the treatment is not repeated, the original movement always returns spontaneously.
Results
The correction of expression wrinkles improves with repetition of the treatment. A more relaxed facial expression. Results may vary according to each patient.
